Activated carbon, as the key material of supercapacitors , is usually divided into two steps in preparation, the first is the activation of activated carbon, and the second is carbonization at high temperature. Today we will introduce the design scheme and requirements of the roller hearth kiln in the activated carbon activation process.
The activation of activated carbon needs to be carried out in a nitrogen-protected environment, and the required temperature is about 900°C, so we use a 34-meter-long nitrogen protect roller hearth kiln in this plan. The charging crucible is Φ300*160 mm, and the moving plate is 330*330*10 mm. Activated carbon will produce a large amount of alkaline corrosive gas during the activation process, so in the selection of heating elements, we use a heating wire with a corundum sleeve as protection. Thr process time is 8.5 hours.

Alumina hollow balls is adopted as furnace Chamber material. The high content of alumina can cope with alkaline corrosive gas and increase the service life of the furnace.
Schematic diagram of furnace structure as below:
The design power of the whole furnace is 630kw, and a motor drives the helical gear, which is stable and reliable. In the selection of the roller, silicon carbide material is used, which can effectively increase the load bearing.
